What will I wear?
Being an Amazon themed event, we
encourage all to wear Amazon dress up. Do pack some warm
clothing, warm sleepwear and wet weather gear for the
unpredictable NZ weather easily turns. Walking shoes or hiking
boots that don’t mind getting dirty are also advisable.
Can I bring weapons?
Prop weapons only allowed and
recommended not to be packed as hand luggage.
Where do we meet?
Auckland pick-ups will be scattered around the city, you’ll be
given a pick up address and time closer to departure date.
Is it true we meet the bus in
Amazon fancy dress?
Absolutely! Be prepared to meet the bus in Amazon fancy dress,
for the fun begins as soon as you board. During Lucy’s city
sights tour, we’ll be taking a group photo of the Amazons
against an incredible volcanic - city backdrop. So be dressed
ready to go.
Where do we sleep?
This is indeed a sleep out like no other, decked in Amazon style
with prop furs, antlers and oddities, groups of up to 10 will
sleep in sleeping marquees upon bamboo futons with chunky doonas
and the option of a pillow menu, offering a selection and style
for all. Double or single sleeping tents are available for an
additional surcharge.
What do we eat?
An
incredible array of hearty meals will be served with NZ quality
wine and cider. Special dietary requirements are to be pre
booked.
Did Amazons have hot water
showers?
They didn’t… but we do! Serving hot water showers are all part
of our 5 star service.
Is Camp Amazon NZ only for the
energetic?
No, Camp Amazon NZ is as full on or as laid back as you want it
to be. Get up early and take part in the Amazon Bootcamp, charge
the beach in a Roman Chariot, win at the Amazon Olympics, or
chill out with the steam room, clay wraps and a massage or two.
Camp Amazon NZ, is whatever you make it.
I like Arts…, what have you got
for me?
Heaps!! With an art marquee decked with enough art supply for
you to paint and draw, or make dream catchers and tribal
necklaces till your heart’s content. An Amazon potter will also
be on hand to instruct all in the art of making a mess in clay
while creating your keepsake.
What happens at the Amazon Dance
Party?
Have you heard the famous saying, ‘Dance like no-one is
watching!?’ well that’s what the dance party is all about. After
the feast and by a roaring fire, hopefully under a full moon and
to the sound of tribal drums, dance like no one is watching!
Is it true there are no snakes in
New Zealand?
Yes!
What’s the deal with tele
communications in Camp Amazon NZ?
Mobile coverage is accessed via climbing a hill. Internet and
email is available at the Camp Amazon NZ Internet hut.
What about money? what currency is
used at Camp Amazon, NZ?
In
keeping with the Amazon theme, most major currencies and
traveller’s cheques can be traded for Camp Amazon NZ Dinar upon
arrival. These can be used for purchases throughout the village
and exchanged upon departure. With no eftpos facilities in the
village, we’ll stop enroute for a stockup.
What’s the weather like in New
Zealand in October?
October temperature is generally around 11C – 18C or 52F – 65F.
Spring has sprung, the days are warm yet the evenings still a
tad chilly. Pack both cold and wet weather gear.
Do I need any
vaccinations?
No vaccinations are
required for New Zealand. If you suffer from any form of
illness, be sure to have an adequate supply of medicines before
departing on your trip and advise us in advance of any medical
condition you may have.
How many other Amazons
will be in the village with me?
Other than the Amazon
Crew you’ll have up to 50 Amazons to make new friends with.
Do age restrictions
apply?
Yes, an age of 18 and
over is enforced, ages 15 to 17 welcome if accompanied by a
guardian of over 18 years.
