Day 1
Auckland Pick Up, Lucy City Sights, Arrival at Amazon Village, Bards by the Fire.
Midday Auckland City coach pick up for Lucy City Sights, with highlights including Lucy Lawless’ favourite hiding places, from her secret chill out in the Domain through to where she lived during her six year season run on Xena Warrior Princess. Smile for the Amazon group photo upon the dormant volcanic crater rim of Mt Eden with the city skyline as a stunning backdrop. So yes, come dressed as an Amazon and ready to go!
Time to leave Auckland behind and head for the majestic Waitakere Ranges, where liberally scattered are dozens of film locations amongst incredibly spectacular scenery, infact this entire photogenic chunk of landscape is one giant Xena Warrior Princess hot spot.
And on actual film location, you’ll find your authentic luxurious Camp Amazon NZ Village. Settle in and get acquainted with fellow Amazons before a hearty Amazon meal served with quality NZ wine and cider. As the stars come out so do the bards with the evening entertainment taking place by the campfire.
Day 2
Amazon Boot Camp, Bethells Beach and Sand Dunes Tour, Roman Chariot Beach Charge, Beach Sunset, Night of bards and Trivia.
Start the day as an Amazon would with Amazon Bootcamp, get the heart pumping as you hone your battle skills in weaponry for the up coming Amazon Olympics.
An Amazon breakfast awaits before the shuttle takes you on a quick ride to the majestic neighbouring Bethells Beach. Boasting of iron enriched darkened sand and a headland you’ll recognise as purely Xena Warrior Princess, here you’ll spend the day on this massive location film site that was used in a magnitude of episodes.
Charge Bethells Beach in an authentic and direct from the set, horse drawn Roman Chariot, hike the magnificent darkened dunes, sword fight amongst the pines, run the shallow creek bed and play in thus huge Xena Warrior Princess playground.
Take time to wander the beach and enjoy the ambiance that surrounds. If the tide allows, explore Callisto’s Cave, large enough to house a Roman Galleon and just one of the many caves in the area.
Getting hungry? Picnic in the middle of this massive film location, with 360-degree views of Mother Nature in all her finest and rugged glory. After lunch spend time exploring the dunes and reflect on the beauty of the landscape.
Return to the Amazon Village for a hearty evening meal before testing your knowledge in the trivia challenge.
Day 3
Amazon Thai Chi, Amazon Art, Amazon Olympics and Evening ‘Rites of Passage’ Amazon Dance Party.
As the sun welcomes itself to another day, awake to Amazon Thai Chi and games training. A relaxed breakfast is served followed by Amazon Art and Craft, or take some time out to enjoy the steam room and a lazy swim in the natural plunge pool.
The Afternoon heralds the start to the Amazon Olympics, where all can compete in a myriad of hilarious fun and games before a mighty feast at sunset begins.
Cooked via NZ’s famous Hangi, enjoy this magnificent meal cooked in the earth as the sun bids farewell to another day. Then break out the Amazon dance wear for this traditional ‘Rites of Passage’ Amazon Dance Party, where all Amazon sisters are officially inducted as a tribe and crowning of the Amazon Champion takes place, by a roaring fire and under moonlight, dance the night away to the beat of tribal drums and fire dancers.
Day 4
Amazon Yoga - Free Morning - Departures for 4 Day Tour Amazons - Continuing Amazons Hike to Lake Wainamu for an Afternoon of Finns, Femmes and Gems.
Spend the morning enjoying the amazing surrounds, and then as all good things must come to an end, for Amazons on the 4-day tour it’s time to head back to Auckland and say goodbye to sister Amazons. Although the tour is now over for you, for those spending the night in Auckland, there’s still a heap of Lucy fun to be had, why not try out some of her favourites, the Sling Shot Bungy, Sky Jump or Devonport with Dan and his Clydesdales; the Horseman with tales of his days working horses on the set of Xena Warrior Princess.
For Amazons staying on the 7 and 11-day tour, after a free morning, hike to the picturesque Lake Wainamu for a picnic lunch and a leisurely swim as you spend the afternoon enjoying the landscape of Finns, Femmes and Gems.
Day 5
Waitomo Caves Full Day Adventure of Glow worms, Stalactites and Caves. Bards by the Fire.
After an early breakfast, the bus journeys to the spectacular world-renowned Waitomo Glowworm Caves. Here a cave’s guide will deliver an informative commentary about the history of the area and the magnificent formations you’ll be seeing. Without a doubt the highlight being the boat trip through the Glowworm Grotto, where thousands upon thousands of glowworms light the cave’s roof and reflect upon the calm waters.
Staying for a double cave combo, the newly reopened Ruakuri Cave offers a captivating blend of Waitomo's most compelling subterranean experiences. In any one sightseeing tour, your guide will bring you up close to glowworms, elaborate cave formations, underground rivers, myths, legends and sacred Maori sites, all while weaving your way through the vast caverns of this incredible natural environment.
Return back to Camp Amazon NZ for dinner by the fire.
Day 6
Amazon Aerobics, Hike to Murawai Beach, Maori Cultural Night, Amazon Theatre and Dance Party.
Start the day with Amazon Aerobics, before a hike to another well-known Xena landmark, Murawai Beach. This black sand beach is home to one of only two land based Gannot bird colonies in NZ, perched amongst the steep cliffs and rocky nesting areas.
Sand yachts and mountain bikes are available for hire and if the tide is right you’ll be rewarded with the blowhole gushing water sky high.
Return to Camp Amazon NZ for a spectacular Maori Cultural Night, wearing traditional costumes, a Kapahaka group of Maori dancers entertains all with Poi and Haka performances. Dinner cooked in the earth via the famous Maori Hangi will be served before Amazon sisters take centre stage for Amazon theatre and then dance the night away with the Amazon Dance Party.
Day 7
Amazon Yoga, Departures for 7-Day Tour Amazons, Continuing Amazons enjoy Free Time Afternoon with Art and Clay Creations.
An easy start to the day before all Amazons on the 7- day tour say goodbye. Amazons on the 11- day tour enjoy a free afternoon getting creative with Art and Clay Creations, design your own Amazon dance mask, or head for a massage and the steamroom. Then enjoy a sunset sip from the plunge pool as the sun bids farewell to another day.
Day 8
Amazon Chakram Golf, Archery and Battle Skills, Bards by the Fire.
Anyone for golf? Or Chakram Golf that is? What’s Chakram Golf I hear you ask you ask? Have you ever heard of Frisbee golf? It’s where you use a Frisbee – Chakram to get from hole to hole. Within walking distance from Camp Amazon NZ, the 18 hole Waitakere Golf Club offers breath-taking scenery with holes that have been developed with minimal change to the natural landscape.
Return for a late afternoon of archery and battle skills. Welcome the new group of Amazons to arrive, before dinner and bards by the fire.
Day 9
Amazon Bootcamp - Return to Bethells Beach - Beach Sunset - Night of Bards and Trivia.
Get the heart pumping as you take on Amazon Boot Camp, before returning to the majestic Bethells Beach for another day of Xena Warrior Princess fun. With over 250kms of walking tracks in the Waitakere area you’re always bound to find something new. Or have another charge in the Roman Chariots, it’s up to you.
Enjoy a picnic lunch before fun in the dunes. Return to Camp Amazon NZ for a hearty evening meal before testing your knowledge in the trivia challenge and bards by the fire.
Day 10
